HH PS12 – Real‑World Performance Review from an Installer’s Perspective

The HH PS12 is a full‑range, 2‑way passive point‑source loudspeaker built around a specially designed 12" low‑frequency driver and a 3" magnesium‑alloy high‑frequency compression driver, capable of delivering up to 131dB Peak SPL. With a 90° horizontal and 60° vertical dispersion pattern, the PS12 is engineered to project clean, even coverage across a wide area.

The cabinet design is equally impressive — a rigid, resonance‑controlled wooden enclosure with a hex‑mesh steel grille and acoustic foam backing. It includes 14 x M8 mounting points, a dual‑pole mount with 0° and –10° tilt options, and two side handles, making it suitable for both fixed installation and portable reinforcement.

But here’s where the PS12 really surprised me…

It’s one thing to read the specifications — it’s another to stand in front of these loudspeakers and actually hear them.

I recently installed two PS12s in a group fitness room, and even before tuning the system, the result was outstanding. I was expecting solid performance, but what we heard the moment we powered them on was genuinely impressive.

Speech Intelligibility That Reaches the Floor

Group fitness rooms are notoriously difficult spaces. Instructors often work on the floor, and participants down low usually struggle to hear the next move clearly. The 3" compression driver with its 90° x 60° dispersion filled every corner of the room — including the floor area — with clean, articulate speech. For the first time, instructions were as clear at floor level as they were standing up.

Installer‑Friendly Features That Actually Matter

• The –10° tilt option on the pole mount was a standout. It allowed us to direct energy exactly where it was needed without compromising coverage.
• The 14 x M8 mounting points give installers enormous flexibility for future upgrades or alternative mounting positions.
• The cabinet design keeps resonance low, which means less colouration and more usable output.

Music Performance That Exceeded Expectations

Even before any EQ or room tuning, the PS12 delivered a full, rich sound with excellent clarity and punch. Once music playback started, it was clear these loudspeakers weren’t just meeting expectations — they were lifting the entire room to a new level of audio quality.
